There was a lot of buzz surrounding the Dallas Cowboys after losing to the Green Bay Packers last weekend.
Many wondered what changes the organization would make in the offseason, including the head coach.
Mike McCarthy was expected to get fired, which is not the case.
Jerry Jones has officially announced that McCarthy will be back in 2024 despite the commonly-held opinion from analysts and fans.
While this might have shocked some, Greg Olsen reiterated in a recent tweet that he was not surprised.
“I guess I wasn’t so crazy Sunday huh? Every weekly talking head said he was gone. Emotional decisions make people feel better. They hardly result in positive outcomes,” Olsen said.

Olsen believes firing McCarthy would have been an emotional decision that the Cowboys would have likely regretted.
This team has performed well in the regular season under McCarthy, but they haven’t been able to break through in the postseason.
While they might need to make some changes, it is evident that the team isn’t willing to change as head coach.
McCarthy has won over Jones and the front office, something that fans will need to deal with moving forward.
Can this team utilize the offseason to better their team and make a deeper playoff run next season?
Now that it is confirmed that McCarthy is sticking around, the front office can continue to add and look for players that will fit best in his system.
Dan Quinn’s name has been thrown out for several head coaching positions, indicating the Cowboys’ defense could look drastically different next year if he leaves.
With that in mind, their defensive plans could soon change, resulting in a complete overhaul of that unit.
