The Philadelphia Eagles made a surprising move in recent days by sending star edge rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets for a 2026 third-round pick.
In two seasons in Philadelphia, Reddick played in every game and posted an eye-popping 27 sacks and six forced fumbles, as well as 3.5 sacks in the postseason en route to the Super Bowl after the 2022 season.
It’s tough for Eagles fans to watch him leave, and today he posted a heartfelt “thank you” message on X, where he called the opportunity to play in his home city “a dream for any kid growing up in Camden.”

The post shows Reddick truly enjoyed his time in Philly and is looking forward to joining the Jets, saying “I’m excited for the next step in this journey. I cannot wait to get to work!”
Reddick became slightly expendable for the Eagles after the team signed edge rusher Bryce Huff to a 3-year deal, ironically taking him from the Jets before sending Reddick to New York.
Reddick has 50.5 sacks over his last four seasons and has been one of the best pass rushers in the league during that time frame, and he immediately steps in as a key member of the Jets’ defense while he heads into a contract year.
He has a $15 million cap hit in 2024, putting the Jets in a bit of a bind against the salary cap.
New York is getting an incredible player, and this is another big loss for the Eagles in an offseason where they already watched franchise stalwarts Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox retire.
