The Minnesota Vikings have been all over the news lately.
GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is reportedly being uber-aggressive in trade talks, trying to get up to the top five to land a new franchise quarterback.
Even so, whoever they get will also need someone to throw the football to, and while they happen to have one of the best — if not the best — in business to do so, they need to make sure they stay there for years to come.
Justin Jefferson has yet to sign a contract extension, and some believe the wide receiver might not be happy with the way the team has dealt with that situation, not to mention the fact that Kirk Cousins is no longer there.
Adofo-Mensah also said that the Vikings believe that Jefferson is the best wide receiver in the league and they intend to compensate him as such.
That’s why NFL insider Mike Florio called the organization out and told them to stop playing games and pay the man:
“This should be easy. If the Vikings are playing games (and some would say that perhaps they are), it’s time for the games to stop. Pay him or trade him to someone who will,” Florio wrote.
A new deal for Justin Jefferson could be done in a day, if the Vikings were truly motivated to do it. Here’s a potential path to getting a deal done: https://t.co/yFi0J2WSCT

Florio believes that Jefferson is one of the few players who transcend all positions but quarterback, which is why the Vikings should match Nick Bosa’s $34 million salary to make him tied for the highest-paid non-quarterback player in the league.
And while that could blow up the WR market, especially with Ja’Marr Chase and CeeDee Lamb also waiting to sign extensions of their own, Jefferson is the kind of player who could be worth taking that risk.
If not, someone else will gladly pay him.
