The Denver Broncos got off to a worrisome start to the season.
Winners of one of their first six games, they’ve now won five in a row to sit in second place in the AFC West.
This team is finally living up to the potential everybody saw in them dating back to last season, especially on the defensive side of the field.
That’s why Broncos insider Zac Stevens pointed out the fact that the defense has allowed just 80 points in its past five games, which translates to 16 points per game.
The same defense that gave up 70 points to the Dolphins has allowed 80 TOTAL points in the last five games.
That’s 16 points per game.
What a remarkable turnaround for Vance Joseph and the Broncos’ defense.

To make it more impressive, we’re talking about the very same unit that allowed 70 points in a single game vs. the Miami Dolphins earlier in the season.
Vance Joseph has done an outstanding job of turning the team around, just when it seemed like he wasn’t even going to finish the season with a job.
Sean Payton vowed to make everything different in his time with the team, and he drew plenty of mockery and criticism for the early returns.
But this defense was always supposed to be as good as it’s been over the past month or so, so this shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
The Broncos looked like a lost cause and a team with zero chance to make the playoffs.
Now, they’re the kind of team no one will want to meet in a win-or-go-home situation, and while some might still have doubts about this version of Russell Wilson, this defense is playing at a championship level.
