The New York Mets have to feel the pressure from their fan base to be competitive in 2024.
Their 2023 season was a major disappointment.
Finishing with a record of 75-87, the Mets were in fourth place in the NL East.
That was one season after they won 101 games and made the playoffs.
One spot the Mets must fix to get back into contention is their bullpen.
Last season, the Mets had one of the worst bullpens in the National League.
They had a 4.45 bullpen ERA and that ranked as fourth-worst in the NL.
But, part of that was due to closer Edwin Diaz missing the entire season recovering from a knee injury.
Still, the Mets need more than Diaz to have a trustworthy bullpen.
That is why they are targeting a former Yankees reliever.
According to Jon Heyman, the Mets are pursuing lefty relievers and Wandy Peralta is a name they are discussing.
Mets are pursuing lefty relievers, and one they have been targeting is Wandy Peralta, who had a sub 3 ERA all three years with the Yankees

Peralta pitched the last three seasons with the Yankees.
He threw at least 42.2 innings for them each year and had an ERA under 3.00.
Last season, he appeared in 63 games for the Yankees.
He threw 54 innings and gave up only 36 hits.
Peralta is one of the better left-handed relievers on the open market.
If the Mets are serious about improving the weak spots of their roster they will make a strong push for Peralta.
