Given the 1-4 start by the Minnesota Vikings this season, many have been linking the team’s quarterback, Kirk Cousins, to trade rumors before this year’s deadline.
Cousins is currently in the final year of his contract with the Vikings, and some believe the team will be ready to move on from him after the conclusion of their 2023 season.
Despite his future with the franchise being in doubt, the Minnesota quarterback reportedly isn’t expected to be dealt before this year’s trade deadline on October 31, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday.

Cousins has a no-trade clause in his current contract with the Vikings, so he was going to have the final say in whatever deal the team would potentially make this season.
Since he’s likely headed to free agency in 2024, remaining with Minnesota for the rest of the season makes sense for the veteran quarterback.
Sticking with the team that he is most familiar with gives Cousins the best chance to put up numbers this year that will be impressive enough to land him a lucrative contract in 2024 from the Vikings or another NFL team.
And while his totals on the stat sheet haven’t always translated to success on the field for Minnesota, Cousins is a Hall of Famer when it comes to landing big-money contracts.
Currently in the middle of his 12th season in the NFL, the Vikings quarterback has made over $201 million during his career in the league.
Cousins currently leads the NFL in touchdown passes with 13, so it seems like he’s on track to sign another handsome contract in 2024, and whether that will be with Minnesota or another team has yet to be determined.
