The Los Angeles Chargers offense suffered a devastating blow to one of their top players to begin the year.
After playing in just three games for the Chargers, it was revealed that Mike Williams tore his ACL, a season-ending injury.
While this was and continues to be bad news for this team, Ian Rapoport’s latest update hopefully provides a glimpse of positivity.
As Rapoport mentions, Williams’ surgery went well and is slated to return for training camp next year.

In the meantime, Justin Herbert has been trying to find a suitable replacement on offense.
Keenan Allen has still acted as the team’s WR1 and has tried to fill in for Williams.
However, Allen and Williams are two different types of receivers.
Allen is more of a mid-yardage player who tends to break tackles, a safety net for Herbert.
Willams, on the other hand, is a speedster that Herbert tended to find downfield, often resulting in massive gains.
With him sidelined, Herbert has been forced to rely on younger, less-experienced players to try and get this offense back on the right track.
Quentin Johnston was supposed to be the next man up, a first-round pick from the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Chargers believe that Johnston will be a great asset for their team, but for now, he hasn’t stepped up due to inexperience.
Austin Ekeler can provide a spark out of the backfield, but he has injuries of his own to focus on.
Williams is surely missed on this offense, and Chargers fans are seemingly counting down the minutes until he returns to the field.
