The Texas Rangers, 2023 World Series champs, will have a hard time retaining all their talent this offseason.
One of their aces in the postseason (and the regular season, too), Jordan Montgomery, is slated to become a free agent this offseason.
Naturally, he will have plenty of suitors around the league.
One of those potential landing spots can be Boston.
That’s right: according to recent reports, the Boston Red Sox might be interested in the former member of the New York Yankees.
“GM Meetings update: Red Sox officials have spoken with the agent for LHP Jordan Montgomery, who posted a 2.79 ERA in 11 regular-season starts for the World Series champs,” MLB insider Jon Morosi tweeted.

The Red Sox had some surprising performers in the rotation, but they need one or two additional arms and if they are aces, even better.
Montgomery might not be your conventional ace, but he did post a 2.79 ERA in 11 starts with the Rangers down the stretch and a has a 2.63 career postseason ERA, in 37.2 innings.
He was one of the reasons behind the Rangers’ impressive run, and is now set to cash in after an incredible year.
The left-hander will likely require a hefty long-term deal to sign, and if the Red Sox are serious about returning to contention, they won’t hesitate to pay top dollar for talent.
Will the former Yankee be open to a Red Sox move?
Will the Rangers let him leave without putting up a fight?
Those are interesting storylines to follow in the offseason regarding the future of Montgomery.
