The Houston Texans entered the 2023 NFL Season with tempered expectations.
They were excited about what C.J. Stroud could hopefully do in their offense, but rookie quarterbacks can sometimes take time to develop.
Thankfully for the organization, Stroud has stepped up in a big way, winning over the locker room, and is the front-runner for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Stroud’s performances have put the Texans in a prime position to make the playoffs.
However, he was injured in their Week 14 game, jeopardizing his status for this week.
As Ian Rapoport has recently pointed out, Stroud did not practice on the Wednesday leading up to the Texans game.
He is still in the concussion protocol, although Rapoport said, “Potentially, he can play on Sunday.”

However, this is only if everything goes according to plan.
Stroud still has to pass through the concussion protocol, which has gotten more rigorous throughout the years.
If he practices on Thursday, the window for him to play on Sunday slightly opens.
Otherwise, the Texans will likely roll out Davis Mills, who played in relief of Stroud after he suffered his concussion.
This is not an ideal situation for a team that now has high aspirations of making the playoffs in Stroud’s first year as their starting QB.
Given the Texans are playing the Tennessee Titans this week, who are fresh off a game where they unexpectedly beat the Miami Dolphins, this week’s game could be surprisingly difficult.
Fans will need to keep tuning in to the latest news, hoping Stroud can clear concussion protocol by Sunday.
