The Los Angeles Dodgers are on fire.
They just signed Shohei Ohtani to the largest contract ever given to a baseball player.
That’s not the end of their offseason: far from it, actually.
They are just getting started, and the fact they need at least two starters (preferably more) should tell us all we need to know.
They are one of the favorites to land Japanese star Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
They have also been linked to closer Josh Hader, and now they are in negotiations for another starter: Tyler Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays.
“The Dodgers are discussing a trade in which they would get RHP Tyler Glasnow and OF Manuel Margot from the Rays for RHP Ryan Pepiot and OF Jonny Deluca, sources tell @TheAthletic. Deal not complete. Changes possible. Financial exchange likely. On it: @Bnicklaus7, @AzoulayHaron,” MLB insider Ken Rosenthal tweeted.

On Tuesday night, there were reports that a trade surrounding Glasnow was nearing completion.
Now, an MLB insider is confirming that there are advanced talks, but it’s not complete yet.
It’s entirely possible that the Dodgers go hard after Yamamoto (or another free-agent pitcher if they miss out on him) and still add Glasnow or another hurler via trade.
If they are giving Pepiot away, there is also a chance they add another pitcher.
Their rotation is currently in shambles, but at least they are getting ace Walker Buehler back in 2024.
If they manage to complete the Glasnow deal, they would be welcoming a legit ace who had a 3.53 ERA in 120 innings in 2023, with 162 strikeouts.
