The Los Angeles Angels are one of the teams still looking for a new manager.
They have already announced that Phil Nevin won’t be returning for the 2024 campaign after failing to make the playoffs in 2022 and 2023.
They are analyzing candidates and profiles to bring in the right person.
They have now reportedly shifted their focus to one of their former players from the 90s: Gary DiSarcina.
“Gary DiSarcina is among the Angels managerial candidates, source confirms @JonHeyman report today. The team could make a decision by the end of this week,” MLB insider Jon Morosi tweeted.

DiSarcina made his MLB debut in 1989, when the franchise was still called the California Angels.
He played at the highest level until 2000, retiring with the Halos.
After his retirement, DiSarcina has worked in a variety of roles in baseball, from minor league manager to baseball operations consultant to the Boston Red Sox front office.
He was also an in-studio analyst for the New England Sports Network.
In 2011–12, he returned to the Angels as an assistant to general managers Tony Reagins and Jerry Dipoto.
He had another stint in the Red Sox system in 2013 and returned to the Angels in 2014, the last year in which they made the postseason, as a third base coach.
He left the Angels in 2016 and, since then, has had stints as a coach with the Red Sox (2017), the New York Mets (2018–2021), and the Washington Nationals (2022–2023).
As Morosi states, the Angels are expected to pick their next manager before the end of the week.
