The Las Vegas Raiders are already dealing with a tough start to the 2023 NFL season as they’ve fallen behind in the standings with a 1-2 record.
The Raiders have recorded losses to the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers and head into a Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers where they could be shorthanded.
Las Vegas may not have Jimmy Garoppolo, who continues to progress through the NFL’s concussion protocol, but the defense will also be missing Chandler Jones.
Jones has yet to suit up for the Raiders this year as he was placed on the non-football injury list after his social media outburst.
The defensive end’s dramatic off-field situation got even worse when he was arrested this past week after violating a domestic violence protective order.
In the wake of his arrest, Las Vegas has decided to release Jones, via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

It was the only logical thing for the Raiders to do as Jones has been a distraction for the team and is clearly in need of some help given his behavior the past few weeks.
Jones was considered to be a key piece for the defense this year as he worked hard over the offseason to get in shape, but now Las Vegas has to deal with losing him for the rest of the year.
In his stead, Tyree Wilson and Malcolm Koonce should form a two-man rotation opposite of Maxx Crosby, who looks as good as ever.
The Raiders somehow always seem to find themselves in unfortunate predicaments and this just happens to be the latest one.
