There are a lot of storylines heading into the NFL Draft, but none have garnered as much attention as the quarterback position.
This year’s crop of quarterbacks is said to be some of the best prospects in recent history, which could bode well for teams who have an immediate need for the position.
After moving on from Russell Wilson, the Denver Broncos are certainly a team that could look at drafting a quarterback this year.
As Albert Breer mentioned in a recent tweet. the Broncos have “done their homework” on several of the best quarterbacks in the class, notably working out J.J. McCarthy and Michael Penix Jr. in the past few days.
The Broncos, sitting at 12, have done their homework on the top QBs—sending a Sean Payton-led contingent to Ann Arbor to work out Michigan’s JJ McCarthy, and hosting Washington’s Michael Penix on a 30 visit.
Denver has 8 picks, but its lack of a 2nd-rounder might limit movement.

Breer also mentioned that the Broncos do have eight picks in this year’s draft, but without their second-round pick, it might be difficult for them to make a massive move.
This is a different situation than the Minnesota Vikings, for instance, who have two first-round picks in this year’s draft.
They are a commonly-discussed team to move up in the draft, and if a team is willing to accept their two firsts in a trade, the Vikings might find themselves with a rookie QB to start the 2024 season.
It will be interesting to see how this will all shake out, especially as it relates to trades over the next several days and on draft night.
The NFL Draft is truly unpredictable, and as evidenced by betting odds in recent years, nobody knows how it will all play out until teams are on the clock.
