With the NFL regular season almost over, changes are expected to come for a plethora of teams soon.
Coaches, executives, and players could all be let go or traded throughout the league
This idea is even more likely for a team with new owners, like the Washington Commanders, who are 4-11 and have lost six consecutive games.
While no changes will be made before the end of the year, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Sunday that the Commanders are expected to move on from head coach Ron Rivera.
“Everything appears to be trending toward major changes for the Commanders after the season, including moving on from their head coach, Ron Rivera,” Pelissero said. “… It always made sense that new owner Josh Harris would want to put his stamp on the football operations.”

Rivera has spent the past four seasons at the helm of the Commanders, where Washington has never finished with a winning record.
The Commanders made the playoffs in his first season in 2020 with a 7-9 record, then went 7-10 in 2021 before going 8-8-1 this past season.
But with a new offensive coordinator, a new quarterback, and new owners, Rivera couldn’t improve on any of his previous three seasons.
Washington’s offense is actually at its best this season (19th in yards and 23rd in points scored) but the defense ranks 32nd in points allowed, a year after it allowed the third-fewest points in the NFL.
The Commanders’ job could be enticing for a few reasons: A likely top-5 draft pick, two more Day 2 picks from trades and solid offensive weapons in wideouts Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson.
