The San Francisco 49ers made a very telling pick when they selected Florida star Ricky Pearsall.
Not many people thought they would even entertain the thought of taking a wide receiver in the first round.
That move fueled the rumors about Brandon Aiyuk being out of the door, but it also paved the way for other teams to try and get their hands on Deebo Samuel.
According to Michael Silver of the SF Chronicle, the Pittsburgh Steelers reached out to try and get the hybrid star, but they weren’t willing to meet the Niners’ asking price.
For what it’s worth, I’m told the Steelers had interest in trading for Deebo Samuel but were unwilling to meet the 49ers’ price…

On the surface, it would make sense to move on from any of them.
Samuel is a star, and he’s going to demand plenty of money in his new deal, and the Niners might be in a tough spot financially.
The same goes for Aiyuk, who, on top of that, has been all over social media because of his apparent desire to leave or have a bigger role on offense.
The Niners want to keep stacking up talent in an attempt to put an end to their decades-long Super Bowl drought, but there’s a salary cap for a reason, and there will be a point in which they’ll just be forced to let someone go.
