The Baltimore Ravens have the reigning MVP in their ranks.
Lamar Jackson is coming off a solid campaign, and while his numbers weren’t the most impressive, he was by far the best player on the best team in the game.
Nonetheless, it seems like there’s still another layer to his game.
According to a report by NFL insider Dianna Russini, Jackson has slimmed down all the way to 205 pounds, which is 10 pounds lighter than last season and as many as 25 pounds lighter than he was in 2022.
Lamar Jackson looks different this spring. He is intentionally down to 205 pounds — 25 pounds less than his 2022 weight and lower than last season, when he played at 215. The word in Baltimore is this slim Lamar could be even faster than the one we’ve seen in years past.

Russini adds that the word around Baltimore is that the reigning MVP has now gotten even faster.
Of course, we should also take this with a grain of salt.
Jackson has struggled with injuries over the past three years or so, and he was finally healthy last season, so perhaps slimming down wasn’t the wisest move.
Also, he may have cut down on bad fat to add more lean muscle, which should obviously help him stay healthy.
More than that, being faster should open up the door for more designed runs and scrambles, which wasn’t the case often in the first year with Todd Monken as his offensive coordinator.
Jackson improved as a pocket passer and wasn’t asked to run as often last season, and with Derrick Henry also on the team, he should get the bulk of the carries going forward.
It’ll be interesting to see how this new leaner and slimmer version of Jackson fares, but we just hope he can avoid injury.
