The Atlanta Falcons have found a new franchise quarterback, but they know he might not be there for long.
Kirk Cousins isn’t getting any younger.
He’s coming off a major injury, and he might not even be ready for the start of the season.
For that, it only makes sense that they consider all their options for the future.
Recently, some analysts have predicted that they could make a run at Michael Penix Jr.
With that in mind, Evan Cohen asked NFL insider Adam Schefter whether they could get him with the No. 8 pick (via UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio).
Could Michael Penix Jr. go as high as the eighth pick?

Schefter claimed that as much as Penix could be a legitimate candidate for the Falcons, he’d be surprised if they took him that high.
He stated that they spent some time with him and really liked what they saw, but he sees them trading down and then getting him, not reaching to pick him at No. 8.
Penix is one of the most talented quarterback prospects in this class, and some believe he’s got the best arm of all.
There are some serious concerns about his durability because of several ailments during his days in college, but he was healthy all year in 2023, and had one of the most impressive seasons in recent college football history.
The Falcons have more than enough young talent to compete for years to come, and Penix would definitely fit their timeline.
Also, with them already having an incumbent starter, they could afford to take a chance on him.
