Over the course of the 2023 NFL regular season, the Pittsburgh Steelers looked like a decent team defensively, with superstar linebacker T.J. Watt leading the way, while also being awful offensively, as it seems quarterback Kenny Pickett might not be the right man for the job under center.
Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, the defense can’t do everything for the Steelers, and that was proven in the first round of the NFL playoffs with Watt ruled out of the game due to an injury, which led to a loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Even though the Steelers were able to make the playoffs once again under longtime head coach Mike Tomlin, it appears the team’s ownership is getting frustrated with the same results on an annual basis and wants to shake things up.
According to Brooke Pryor of ESPN, team owner Art Rooney II is getting “a little impatient” and wants to explore what’s going right for some of the best teams in the league and adopt those practices to get the Steelers back to being a title contender in the AFC.
Just wrapped Art Rooney II’s annual end-of-season availability
My big takeaway: Rooney II and the Steelers are getting “a little impatient” with the drought of playoff wins, and they’re open to looking around the league at what’s helped other teams’ success and implementing some…

Even though the team remains committed to Tomlin moving forward, as he will return as head coach next season, this could be a sign that he’s on the hot seat or at least needs to change things up in order to right the ship in Pittsburgh.
One of the team’s biggest issues is the quarterback position, which the team hasn’t gotten right since Ben Roethlisberger retired.
It could be a point of emphasis for the Steelers front office to upgrade the position if the team isn’t sold on Pickett moving forward.
