The Minnesota Vikings have had an interesting offseason where the team has lost franchise staples on both sides of the ball, most notably quarterback Kirk Cousins and pass rushers Danielle Hunter and D.J. Wonnum.
The team has had to make big moves to overhaul the roster, and one insider suggests that two more surprising moves could be on the horizon that would shake up this defense even more.
Andrew Krammer of The Star Tribune said he’s heard behind the scenes that the “light bulb” isn’t going on for safety Lewis Cine and cornerback Andrew Booth Jr., which could lead to both being surprising cuts before the season.

Krammer clarified “The phrase that I’ve heard behind the scenes is the light bulb not going on with [Lewis Cine and Andrew Booth Jr.] specifically. So how do you interpret that when you’re not sitting in the room next to them as they’re studying these things? So yeah, the light bulb is just not going on, and it didn’t go on last year.”
Cine was the 32nd overall pick in the first round of the 2022 draft out of Georgia and recorded just one tackle in seven games last season after not seeing the field in 2022, while Booth was a second-round pick out of Clemson in that same draft and appeared in all 17 games last season, recording eight tackles and a pass deflection.
Both are buried pretty deep on the depth chart at the moment and have to get it going soon, otherwise the top of that 2022 draft will be a complete wash for Minnesota.
