The Minnesota Vikings want to get a new quarterback, and it seems like that new quarterback also wants to play for them.
Over the past couple of weeks, they’ve been rumored to be in the mix to trade up to the top five to get J.J. McCarthy.
And judging by his most recent words, it seems like McCarthy would also be delighted to take his talents to the Twin Cities.
When asked by Adam Schefter about the prospect of being a Viking, the Michigan product claimed that he would run through a brick wall for coach Kevin O’Connell, adding that he’s 100% on board with what he wants to build on a football team (via The Purple Persuasion).
“It would be the world … Coach O’Connell, he’s a guy that I’d run through a brick wall for. Everything that he wants to do with a football team, is something I think want to be a part of,” McCarthy said.
“What would it be like, for you, to wind up in MN?” @AdamSchefter asked @jjmccarthy09 on his podcast.

The Vikings currently have two first-round picks, and they’re reportedly looking to package them to trade up with the Arizona Cardinals or Los Angeles Chargers at either No. 4 or No. 5 to get their hands on their new franchise quarterback.
McCarthy has been the biggest winner of the pre-draft process, and multiple teams would also love to have an opportunity to draft him, which is why they need to make sure to get past the New York Giants, who are slated to pick at No. 6.
The Vikings were also reportedly keeping tabs on UNC star Drake Maye, but with him projected to be the No. 3 selection to the New England Patriots, that just doesn’t seem likely anymore.
Fortunately for them, it seems like the excitement and interest is mutual, and they could be in for a long and successful partnership.
