The Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills were supposed to play in the blistering cold and under some of the most extreme weather in NFL history.
The weather forecast projected wind gusts up to 45 mph and near-zero-degree wind chills, which is why New York Governor Kathy Hochul has just announced at a news conference that the game would be postponed to Monday at 4:30 PM.
With that in mind, former NFL star J.J. Watt took to Twitter to question this decision, asking whether the whole point of having the Bills’ new stadium not having a roof was to make sure the weather kept being an element of the game.
“Wasn’t the argument for Buffalo’s new stadium not having a roof that football is supposed to be played in the elements?” Watt said.
Honest question:
Wasn’t the argument for Buffalo’s new stadium not having a roof that football is supposed to be played in the elements?
This is multiple games in recent years that have been rescheduled due to weather.
Do we want the elements to be a factor or not?

That’s actually a valid point.
Granted, playing football under heavy snow and with those winds isn’t ideal, but the game has been played like that from the very beginning.
These types of games are usually ugly-looking, run-heavy, and sloppy, but that’s also football, and only lightning or storms should be a valid reason to postpone a game.
Those games are also unpredictable, and it could’ve actually helped a big underdog like the Pittsburgh Steelers get a bit of an edge because the passing game might not be as big of a factor under that kind of storm.
At the end of the day, the league will have to decide whether they want the weather to be a factor or not.
Hopefully, we will at least get to watch an exciting game on Monday.
Otherwise, the league may have dropped the ball big time with this decision.
