The Jacksonville Jaguars had Josh Allen at the top of their priority list entering this offseason.
The dominant OLB had a franchise-record 17.5 sacks in 2023, so a massive extension was never in doubt.
Now that he’s gotten paid, he still has that competitive fire inside him, and he’s nowhere near done.
In a recent interview, he admitted that he’s looking forward to taking home the AP Defensive Player of the Year in 2024.
He hasn’t been a finalist to get the award yet, but he’s still considered to be one of the best pass rushers in the game since he entered the league.
Allen is coming off posting career highs in sacks, QB hits (33), and tackles for loss (17) and got his second Pro Bowl selection.
However, he couldn’t prevent the Jaguars from regressing and finishing the campaign with a disappointing 9-8 record.
With that in mind, and upon Arik Armstead’s arrival, he has all the confidence in the world in this team’s ability to bounce back in a big way.
As a matter of fact, he revealed that his goal with the former San Francisco 49ers star is to win the whole thing:
“I want to show him, that I ain’t no Nick but I’m Josh and it’s a bad boy, it’s a bad boy right here,” he said. “And I play the game my way and I want him to see that, and I want him to know when you get to the Super Bowl, we gonna win it. That was my goal for me and for him. When we get there, we’re going all the way and I told him, I’m going to be the MVP of it too, so I can’t wait to get there.”

That’s the kind of thing you want to hear from one of your leaders, particularly one that just got a huge amount of money in the offseason.
Armstead definitely brings plenty of experience and dominance to the table, but the Jaguars will have to walk before they can run.
They must focus on taking the division back first, and it won’t be easy with the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Tennessee Titans all looking significantly better.
