After seemingly turning things around this season, the Cincinnati Bengals were hit with a devastating blow, with superstar quarterback Joe Burrow going down with a season-ending injury, resulting in backup quarterback Jake Browning taking over under center.
On Sunday, Browning got his first start for the Bengals against the division-rival Pittsburgh Steelers, with Burrow now done for the 2023 campaign.
Even though it was a close game against the Steelers, the Bengals still ended up falling short, with Browning unable to get the best of Pittsburgh’s defense.
After the game, Browning talked about the experience of getting his first start for Cincinnati and let it be known that he was not happy with his performance, which resulted in the team’s sixth loss of the season via Mike Petraglia of the Jungle Roar Podcast.

In the loss to the Steelers, Browning completed 19 of 26 passes for 227 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Although the team did fall short against their division rivals, it was a fairly impressive debut for Browning, as he faced one of the tougher defenses in the league.
Unfortunately for Cincinnati, this loss drops the team below .500, with the Bengals now sporting a record of 5-6, which likely will only get worse as the team tries to get through the rest of the season without the face of the franchise leading the way under center.
Things won’t get any easier next week for Browning and company as the team will face the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road.
