It might sound obvious, but it takes a lot to be a professional NFL player.
Professional athletes need to take elite care of their bodies, as they need to be in top-notch shape to endure the physicality that comes with the sport.
Talent and athleticism alone aren’t enough, and Jalen Hurts is well aware of that.
That’s why, as much as he used to love it, he’s given up eating pork.
Talking to GQ Magazine, the former Oklahoma Sooner revealed that he felt like his body didn’t react well to pork.
So, even though he loved pork chops and ribs, he had to put them aside for the sake of his career (via Eagles Nation).
Jalen Hurts says he gave up eating pork: “I don’t eat pork. It’s not for any religious purposes, it’s just something that I let go. I grew up being a big baby back rib and pork chop guy, bacon, all of that. That was something I don’t feel like my body reacted to in a positive way… pic.twitter.com/FWmwPW0el8

Nonetheless, he did admit that he loves to eat chitterlings and tripe when his grandmother cooks them, but he limits that to once or twice a year.
This approach has definitely worked out for him.
Despite the early doubts and criticism, Hurts has become one of the best quarterbacks in the game, not to mention one of the highest-paid players this game has ever seen.
The Eagles will enter the upcoming campaign with a determination to get back to the big game.
Hurts led them to the Super Bowl two seasons ago and was an MVP-caliber player, but he regressed last season.
Hopefully, a full offseason to heal his body and work on his game will allow him to get back to his best.
Who knows? He might even allow himself to eat a pork chop if he gets a ring.
