The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the best young quarterbacks in the game, and as such, they need to protect him.
That’s especially true when you consider the fact that they just signed him to one of the most lucrative deals in NFL history.
That’s why the fans and some analysts have been so critical of them for allowing him to scramble and designing runs for him, as he obviously puts his body on the line and is at risk of suffering an injury.
So, now that he was spotted wearing a brace on his knee in the second half of the game vs. the Miami Dolphins and the narrative flooded social media, Hurts wanted to make it loud and clear that he never got hurt while running (via Eagles Nation).
Jalen Hurts: “This is the last I’ll speak on it. I’ve never been banged up as a runner. Everything has come in the pocket. The illusion and narrative is it’s with running, not here.” pic.twitter.com/Rz5jK5yEN9

On top of that, Hurts is a mobile and athletic quarterback, so it only makes sense to use him to the best of his strengths.
Of course, he can stay in the pocket and has made great strides as a passer, but that’s never been what he does best or the reason why they made him one of the highest-paid players in professional sports history.
It is a fact that the Eagles should rely more heavily on their running game and take some pressure off their quarterback.
But by no means should they go away from what has worked for them thus far.
Football is a physical game, and injuries can happen on every single play, whether it’s running or not.
