The Cincinnati Bengals found a legit superstar in WR Ja’Marr Chase.
The team faced some criticism for not taking an offensive lineman to protect Joe Burrow, but it didn’t take long before he proved to be one of the best prospects the game had seen in quite a while.
Despite not being around for long, Chase has already established himself as one of the prime players in his position.
As such, he’s drawn plenty of elite matchups throughout the course of his young career, often being guarded by the best defensive back on the other team.
That’s why he’s an authorized voice when it comes to talking about the best defenders in the league.
And when asked about the toughest defender he’s ever faced, his answer was rather surprising (via Dov Kleiman).

Chase chose Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ DB Carlton Davis, and it’s not like he shut him down by any means.
The LSU product finished the game with seven catches for 60 yards and one score in his matchup vs. the Bucs last season.
Chase is an elite trash-talker and has often been petty, so perhaps he’s just being sarcastic, or he doesn’t want to give his flowers to other elite DBs of the game, such as Patrick Surtain II, Sauce Gardner, and Jalen Ramsey.
Davis is a very good DB, but he’s never been named to an All-Pro or Pro-Bowl team in his career.
With that in mind, it’ll be interesting to see what other star DBs have to say about his choice.
