Tee Higgins’ trade request has made headlines in Cincinnati, as the Bengals star receiver has made it clear he doesn’t want to play on the franchise tag and would like a long-term contract somewhere else.
Now the team’s other star receiver is in the news, for a reason that is much less clear.
Ja’Marr Chase posted a cryptic message on X today, saying “this will be a krazy story to tell.”

What could this mean?
Is Chase upset over his running mate potentially being on his way out of town?
Is he elated over the team signing tight end Mike Gesicki to a one-year deal?
Are we looking too deep into things and failing to realize he is just building hype for his upcoming novel?
Chase is coming off another impressive season even without star quarterback Joe Burrow for roughly half of it, posting 100 catches for 1,216 yards and seven touchdowns.
Chase, who just turned 24, is in the last year of his rookie deal before his fifth-year option, and could be in line to become the league’s highest-paid player at the position.
Cincinnati traded Joe Mixon to the Texans, which combined with Higgins’ potential departure, puts a ton of pressure on Chase to produce in this offense.
It’s possible that looming extension is why Cincinnati still hasn’t given Higgins the big payday he is looking for.
Perhaps we’ll soon get clarity on Chase’s cryptic message, but it’s way too early to start grasping at straws.
The Higgins situation is the biggest priority in Cincinnati right now, not Chase’s novel.
