Nine-year NFL quarterback and former Pro Bowler Jameis Winston left the New Orleans Saints after four seasons to join the Cleveland Browns as their No. 2 quarterback this offseason.
He was asked why he chose Cleveland on “Up & Adams” live from the Kentucky Derby on Friday.
Here is what he had to say:
“Being able to go to a team that was able to win 11 games with four different quarterbacks and the trust in Kevin Stefanski…Having the opportunity to help serve Deshaun (Watson)…This is the first quarterback room where I’m gonna be the vet,” Winston said at Churchill Downs.

The former Heisman Trophy has done a lot in his football career.
He has been both a starter and a backup.
While with Tampa Bay at the beginning of his career, he started for five years and became a Pro Bowler.
But after he threw 33 touchdowns, a whopping 30 interceptions, and for over 5,000 passing yards in 2019, that is when he became a backup.
The former national champion at Florida State sat behind Drew Brees for a year in 2020 before starting at various points over the next three years.
Now, he will help Watson become an even better football player.
Watson is about to enter the eighth season of his career, so it isn’t like he is an inexperienced or struggling player.
But with his injury history, Winston and Tyler Huntley will be able to provide the Browns with even more stability behind Watson.
This was a good move by both the Browns and Winston.
