It’s the dawn of a new era for the Chicago Bears, and everybody in the building is well aware of that.
The Bears haven’t been so excited about the start of a season in quite a while, perhaps ever.
With that in mind, one of their best players is looking to get his new contract started with a clean slate, and that includes a jersey number.
According to a report by Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk, star cornerback Jaylon Johnson is going to wear No. 1 this year, going back to the number he wore during his days with the Utah Utes, as opposed to the No. 33 he donned during his first four seasons with the organization.

Notably, Johnson won’t be the only Bear sporting a new jersey number next season.
WR Tyler Scott will reportedly allow veteran Keenan Allen to have his usual No. 10, going to No. 13 instead.
First-round pick QB Caleb Williams used to go by No. 13 in college, but he’ll move to No. 18.
New RB D’Andre Swift will go from No. 0 to No. 4, while S Jonathan Owens will go from No. 34 to No. 36, as the Bears retired that number to honor the legendary Walter Payton.
The Bears should expect plenty of jersey sales over the next couple of months, so they better get to work and get the team store fully stocked before the start of the season.
They now have one of the most star-studded offenses in the game, not to mention the most hyped prospect we’ve seen in ages.
