The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2023 season with a lot of questions.
Many wondered how the team would respond to their early exit from the playoffs last year and whether they could bounce back.
Two of the people with the most questions associated with them were Dak Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy.
While Prescott has seemingly answered many of those questions in the eyes of fans, McCarthy’s future was still unclear.
However, after Jerry Jones’ recent comments, his job might be safe heading into 2024.
According to Jones via Jon Machota, “I just think his record speaks for itself. I think of what he’s done and that we’ve put ourselves in this position over these last three years, I think that does speak for itself..”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones when asked about a report that Mike McCarthy needs to do well in the postseason to have a secure spot with his job going forward: “I just think his record speaks for itself. I think of what he’s done and that we’ve put ourselves in this position over…

Jones also mentioned, “We’ve got a lot of football left and no small part thanks to Mike. … We’ll see how each game goes.”
The Cowboys finished the regular season with a 12-5 record, good for first place in the NFC East.
They are now the No. 2 seed in the playoffs and are slated to face off against the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.
Coincidentally, McCarthy used to be the head coach of the Packers, so this will be a great test for him against the team that he formerly led.
While the Cowboys are the better team on paper, and due to what their record says, anything can happen in the NFL.
If McCarthy’s squad cannot find a way to take them down, it could raise further questions about his ability to lead this team.
The Cowboys are undefeated at home this season, which should give fans confidence in their chances to come away with a win.
