The Los Angeles Chargers have a new set of weapons for Justin Herbert.
They took Ladd McConkey in the second round, likely to serve as their WR1 right out of the gate.
Nonetheless, that wasn’t the only wide receiver they got for their star quarterback; they also took a chance on Jerry Rice’s son, Brenden.
Brenden, while obviously not as highly touted as his father, was expected to be a mid-round pick.
However, he shockingly slipped all the way to the seventh round.
That’s why the USC product is now a man on a mission, and he’s making sure to take his father’s approach to the game now that he’s also become a pro.
When asked about what makes him special and sets him apart from the rest of the pack, Brenden took a page from his father’s book by coining his famous motto: ‘Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can do what others can’t.’
Heck of a response from #Chargers Rookie WR Brenden Rice when asked about the skills and traits that make him special:

Rice was a scoring machine during his days in college, although he’s not as polished as his father.
Even so, we’ve already seen this kind of story happen over and over.
It’s never about where you’re taken in the NFL Draft but about what you do with your opportunities.
Rice grew up in an NFL environment and knows what it takes to be a professional, and that kind of work ethic can take someone a long way.
Also, with that huge chip on his shoulder and an elite mentor, he’s the last guy you want to sleep on.
