The New York Jets don’t want to leave anything to chance in 2024.
They were one of the biggest winners of the offseason, not only for getting their future Hall of Famer quarterback back to full strength but also because of the weapons and protection they got him.
Even so, all good things can be even better, and this roster isn’t the exception to that rule.
With that in mind, they’ve made a run at a veteran running back.
According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Jets have officially signed former Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen to a one-year deal.
Jets are signing free-agent RB Tarik Cohen to a one-year deal, per source. Cohen was one of the NFL’s top return specialists and a receiving threat before injuries derailed his career. Cohen last played in the NFL in 2020, but now will attempt his comeback with the Jets. pic.twitter.com/7lBjqEt1Sc

It’s been a while since we last saw Cohen take the field in the NFL.
He hasn’t played in a regular-season game since 2020.
He suffered a torn ACL and multiple knee injuries, missing the entire 2021 campaign before tearing up his Achilles the following season.
The Carolina Panthers signed him to their practice squad last season and then gave him a future contract, but they released him earlier in the month.
As well as being a legitimate red-zone threat as a rusher, Cohen made an impact with his pass-catching and punt-returning skills.
He was an All-Pro and Pro Bowler as a special teamer, and with the new kickoff rules, it only made sense that the Jets wanted to take a chance on a player with his skill set.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to stay healthy once and for all and prove that he still belongs in the National Football League.
