The New York Jets’ offense finally took off.
It could be a little too late, but Sunday’s performance may have saved Zach Wilson’s NFL career.
The former No. 2 pick looked confident and made play after play.
Apparently, it was all about his mindset and approach to his game.
Jets CB DJ Reed stated that Wilson told him before the game that he had nothing to lose, adding that the worst thing that could happen was that he would be benched again (Via Ari Meirov).
#Jets CB DJ Reed on what Zach Wilson told him before Sunday’s game:
“He told me, ‘I’ve got nothing to lose.’ He said, ‘What’s the worst that can happen? I get benched again?’ That’s what he said, and that’s the way he played. It showed.”

Wilson then had one of the best games — if not the best game — of his career, completing 27 of 36 passes for 301 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.
The BYU product had already shown glimpses of solid play this season, but he was simply unable to do it on a consistent basis.
He’s looked out of sorts at times, completely overwhelmed by the pressure.
But watching him play like this is encouraging.
He is heading towards the next chapter of his career, which is more than likely going to be away from the Big Apple.
The Jets have always raved about Wilson’s dominance in practice, and Aaron Rodgers has had nothing but words of trust and confidence for him, but we had never seen anything that could make us think that they were right.
Wilson is still quite young.
He has had a rough time in the league, but someone could still give him another opportunity to develop in an environment with less pressure to see what he’s got.
