The New York Jets endured a brutal 2023 NFL season where they lost Aaron Rodgers to an Achilles tear in Week 1 and saw the team spiral from there.
Fans had to put up with poor quarterback play for most of the year, though the Jets are running things back with essentially the same roster and coaches intact.
Rodgers’ injury derailed a hopeful New York season, but there were still a couple of bright spots.
The biggest one was the return of Breece Hall who looked like himself after spending the past year recovering from a torn ACL.
Despite a poor offensive line and inadequate quarterbacks, Hall managed to record nearly 1,000 rushing yards on 223 carries.
Hall and the running back room should have a big role in the offense next season and New York is reportedly bringing in a new voice to lead the room via Jonathan Jones of CBS.
“The Jets are hiring Tony Dews as their next running backs coach, source says. He previously coached the running backs and tight ends over the past 6 years with the Titans,” Jones reported.

Tony Dews has plenty of experience working with running backs during his time with the Tennessee Titans and will look to bring that expertise to the Jets.
Hall is a special talent in the backfield and allows Dews to work with a true three-down back.
Dews is just one piece of the puzzle, though, as the Jets have a lot of work to do to bounce back from 2023 and make good on their promise to compete in the AFC.
