Ahead of the 2023 NFL season, the New York Jets made the bold move to trade for superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers in a blockbuster deal with the Green Bay Packers.
As a result of the blockbuster trade, Zach Wilson, who the team selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, would have to take a backseat to Rodgers, with the team hoping to capitalize on a potential title-contending window in New York.
However, after Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury in the first game of the season against the division-rival Buffalo Bills, the Jets had to turn to Wilson once again to lead the team under center.
As expected, Wilson being the starter in New York once again didn’t go as planned as he struggled to lead the team for a third straight season, finishing with 2,271 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
The Jets ultimately ended their 2023 campaign with a record of 7-10 and missed the NFL playoffs entirely, which has led the team to give Wilson permission to seek a trade this NFL offseason, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Only time will tell if Wilson can find a trade suitor for his services, as he’s shown teams around the league that he’s nothing more than a mediocre quarterback at best.
However, sometimes a change of scenery can help players like Wilson turn their careers around, and that might be exactly what’s needed in this case, but it remains to be seen what team, if any, is willing to trade for him.
