The New York Jets starting quarterback in 2024 will be, unsurprisingly, Aaron Rodgers, but the future of his backup is less secure.
Rodgers missed the entire 2023 season with an Achilles injury but is expected to be back and fully healthy for this upcoming season.
Zach Wilson, meanwhile, delivered after another poor season after he had to take over for Rodgers in Week 1.
And after another bad year, the Jets will reportedly try to trade Wilson this offseason, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“The likelihood is that he’s played his last down with the Jets,” Rapoport said. “My understanding is this offseason they’re expected to seek to trade Zach Wilson.”

This effectively confirms an earlier report that the Jets would trade Wilson this offseason – one that head coach Robert Saleh refused to deny when directly asked by reporters during the season.
Wilson’s time with the Jets basically ended the moment the team benched him in the middle of the season for the second consecutive year.
Though he came back and did win a game later in the year after being benched, the history between the two sides appeared to sour significantly after that moment.
Wilson reportedly didn’t even want to return to the starting role when approached by the team, though he and the Jets denied those rumors as well.
The vibes around this relationship are bad, and the best decision for both sides is to part ways after three years together.
Wilson will go down as one of the biggest first-round quarterback busts for the Jets, though he could have an opportunity to prove himself again with another team.
