The New York Jets’ quarterback situation has been terrible all year long.
Losing Aaron Rodgers four plays into the year was a deadly blow, and they never fully recovered from it.
Thus far, the team has had Rodgers, Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle, and Trevor Siemian all attempting at least one pass this season, and the results have been as bad as one would expect.
Unfortunately for them, it seems like the revolving door will just keep spinning, as Rodgers hasn’t been medically cleared to play yet and Wilson is still under the league’s concussion protocol.
That’s why it’s not a surprise to see that HC Robert Saleh announced that Trevor Siemian and Brett Rypien will operate at QB for Sunday’s clash vs. the Washington Commanders (via Ian Rapoport).
#Jets QB Zach Wilson (concussion) is out for Sunday, and coach Robert Saleh said Aaron Rodgers will not be the third QB. Trevor Siemian and Brett Rypien are the team’s QBs.

There was some hope that Rodgers would be ready to play this week.
But with the Jets already ruled out from postseason contention, perhaps that’s not in their best interests.
Of course, there’s nothing like making history, and having him on the field would’ve been a huge breakthrough for sports medicine and whatnot.
Then again, he’s not getting any younger, and with the Jets’ subpar offensive line and their team playing on turf at MetLife Stadium, having him on the field would put him at huge risk of aggravating his injury and putting his career in jeopardy.
Rodgers was close and fought hard, but his team wasn’t able to hold down the fort for him while he worked on getting back on the field.
