The New York Jets’ relationship with quarterback Zach Wilson remains a rocky one.
Wilson returned in Week 14 after a midseason benching to lead the Jets in a 30-6 win over the Houston Texans.
Before the game, though, the Deseret News’ Doug Robinson reported that the Jets told Wilson they’d trade him after this season to give the young quarterback a fresh start.
When asked directly about the report, Jets head coach Robert Saleh deferred the question to general manager Joe Douglas, per Zack Rosenblatt.
Robert Saleh on the report that he told Zach Wilson they’d trade him this offseason, didn’t really answer. Said he’ll leave the answer to that to Joe Douglas.

The Jets will have a decision to make on Wilson’s future after a tumultuous three seasons in New York.
This is the second consecutive season where Saleh benched Wilson midway through the year but the first time they went back to him as the starter.
It doesn’t help that Aaron Rodgers is waiting in the wings to take over in 2024 after he returns from his Achilles tear.
Wilson proved in Week 14 he can be a competent starter with his first and only 300-yard performance in 2023 and third in his career.
He also didn’t throw an interception, but he did fumble the ball away.
There were reports that surfaced before Week 14, though, that Wilson was reluctant to return as the team’s starter after his benching.
Saleh denied that report when asked, but his refusal to unequivocally deny the trade rumors speaks volumes about that report’s validity.
But with Rodgers as the presumed starter, maybe it’s better for Wilson and the Jets to part ways.
