When newly acquired future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on their first offensive series of the season, the New York Jets knew they were doomed.
They were forced to go back to Zach Wilson at QB, and as he did in his first two seasons, he struggled mightily.
Wilson was benched at one point in favor of Tim Boyle, but despite regaining his starting job, he was benched again in Sunday’s 30-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Trevor Siemian took over for him, and Field Yates reported that Siemian will likely start this Sunday against the Washington Commanders.
Sounds like the Jets will be turning to Trevor Siemian this Sunday. He’d be their 4th different starting QB in 2023. https://t.co/E168CBV1DU

In October, it looked like perhaps the Jets were going to survive their situation, as they won three games in a row and momentarily sneaked above .500.
But reality soon set in, and they have lost six of seven games since.
The Jets rank at or near the bottom of the NFL in many key offensive categories, and Rodgers’ injury has exposed a number of other deficiencies they have.
Many have talked about how lacking their offensive line is, but they also have a lack of reliable playmakers other than second-year wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Their defense, which was outstanding last year, has been solid at times in 2023, but it has also struggled to stop the run at other times.
Two of New York’s three remaining games seem at least somewhat winnable — they will play the 4-10 Washington Commanders on Sunday and then close out the season on January 7 versus the 3-11 New England Patriots.
However, they have even had trouble defeating bad teams, as they lost to New England back in Week 3.
