The New York Jets finished their 2023 season strong with a big win on the road against the New England Patriots, but that doesn’t mean everyone on the team is happy about how the year went.
The Jets were eliminated from playoff contention weeks ago and looked lost throughout the season after quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1.
One of the most disgruntled players on the team was star wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who put together a great statistical season but hated how the season turned out.
He reportedly claimed 2023 was “the worst year of my life” during the team’s exit interviews after New York went 7-10 this season (via SNY’s Connor Hughes).

Pretty damning assessment. #NYJ need to turn this around or they run risk they’ll lose one of their bright spots. Players hold more power than ever before in NFL.… pic.twitter.com/Tgk4tTL6DZ

Wilson is one of the best young wide receivers in the NFL and the Jets’ No. 1 target on offense.
He, alongside running back Breece Hall and cornerback Sauce Gardner, are the lifeblood of the Jets team after being drafted a year ago.
But the trio has endured two seasons of mediocrity at the quarterback position and haven’t enjoyed many wins during their short NFL careers.
The hope for the Jets is that Aaron Rodgers can return fully healthy in 2024 to usher in a new era of winning and prosperity for the downtrodden franchise.
That’s a lot to pin on a 40-year-old quarterback, but it’s all the Jets have at the moment after three years of Zach Wilson under center.
The 2024 season is a long ways away, though, meaning Wilson and the rest of the team will have to stew in what went through this season before even thinking about the next season.
