When the 2023 NFL season began, it looked like quarterback Joe Flacco’s career was over.
But in November, the Cleveland Browns, who had lost Deshaun Watson to a season-ending shoulder injury, brought Flacco in and he led them to a four-game winning streak that enabled them to make the playoffs.
His productivity has earned him a second NFL life, not to mention the Comeback Player of the Year Award, and per Adam Schefter, he has been scooped up by the Indianapolis Colts on a one-year contract.

It seems like long ago, but Flacco once led the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl championship during the 2012 season when they defeated Colin Kaepernick’s San Francisco 49ers in the big game.
But his stock fell considerably after the 2017 campaign, and the Ravens benched him midway through 2018 in favor of a rookie named Lamar Jackson, now a two-time regular-season MVP.
In five games with Cleveland last season, Flacco threw for 1,616 yards and 13 touchdowns, and he had three games with three touchdown passes each.
The Colts have a young quarterback who could be a stud in Anthony Richardson, who was a rookie last season.
He was named the starter when the season began, but he managed to play in just four games before an AC joint sprain in his shoulder prematurely ended his year.
It will be interesting to see if Richardson holds onto his QB1 spot this fall, or if Flacco, who is now 39 years of age, manages to beat him out by the start of Week 1.
