Each MLB offseason, the Baseball Hall of Fame announces the newest class of inductees.
Every player who laces up the cleats in MLB wants to be a Hall of Famer.
It is the greatest honor in the sport and it is a fraternity for only the best of the best.
In 2024, the Hall of Fame added three new players to Cooperstown.
They are Adrian Beltre, Joe Mauer, and Todd Helton.
Each is well-deserving of the honor and many players from around the sports world wanted to reach out with their congratulations.
One famous sports figure who reached out to Mauer was hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.
According to Jon Morosi via MLB, Mauer said Gretzky reached out to him to offer his congratulations.

Mauer was a Minnesota kid who played his entire MLB career with the Twins.
Also, being from Minnesota, Mauer is a huge hockey fan.
You can bet Gretzky reaching out to him meant a lot.
Mauer making the Hall of Fame on the first ballot was a surprise to some.
But, he is deserving of the honor.
He was one of the truly elite hitting catchers in the history of baseball.
As a winner of three AL batting titles, Mauer has a career batting average of .306.
Across baseball history, catchers are not known for their ability to hit.
Mauer carved out a successful career with his bat and that is why he is headed to Cooperstown.
The Twins legend will officially be inducted during the Hall of Fame ceremony in July.
