The 2023 Cleveland Browns are easy to root for.
They weren’t supposed to make it this far because of the never-ending string of injuries they suffered, yet here they are.
Joe Flacco wasn’t supposed to play again after his last two stints in the league and because of his age, but here he is.
And while some expected the defense to take a leap forward under Jim Schwartz, not even the most optimistic Browns fan thought the turnaround would be as remarkable and fast as it was.
With all that in mind, former Browns great Joe Thomas told Kay Adams that this is the team that has brought more momentum and hope since the Browns returned in 1999 (via Up & Adams).
Is this @Browns squad a team of destiny??? #CLEvsHOU @joethomas73 @heykayadams https://t.co/RdEIDRu7E7

Thomas believes this kind of belief in each other could galvanize a team in the postseason, as they know they can get through anything because of how they’ve dealt with adversity throughout the course of the entire season.
On top of that, they have a veteran quarterback who has been there and done what way too many times, and his connection with David Njoku and Amari Cooper gives them a potential big play threat on every dropback.
Add a championship-caliber defense to the mix and a team that knows it’s capable of rallying together, and the Browns are definitely a huge threat to come out of the AFC.
They’ve already overachieved, and they don’t have anything to lose at this point, and those kinds of teams are often the most dangerous in a win-or-go-home scenario.
