The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to always find a way to win games and the 2023 NFL season is no different as they’ve overcome their slow start to get right back in the playoff mix.
In Week 9, the Steelers managed to hold off the Tennessee Titans in a tight 20-16 game to improve to 5-3.
Tennessee started rookie Will Levis at quarterback and the second-round draft pick nearly upset Pittsburgh as he had a chance to win the game on their final drive.
However, Levis was intercepted in the end zone and that would seal the Titans’ fate and give the Steelers a hard-earned victory.
Pittsburgh’s relied on the strength of their defense to get by and they had another strong showing as they were able to clamp down in key moments.
Rookie cornerback Joey Porter Jr. spent a lot of time shadowing DeAndre Hopkins and he discussed what it was like to ask head coach Mike Tomlin for the assignment via Jim Rome of CBS.

Porter has got a competitive fire and edge to him that makes him a perfect player under Tomlin and it’s no surprise that the head coach appreciated the rookie’s willingness to take on the challenge of guarding someone like Hopkins.
Hopkins drew five targets with Porter as his assigned defender and managed to only haul in one reception for 17 yards.
That’s a great performance from Porter considering the tear that Hopkins was on before their matchup, so the defensive back proved he can hang with some of the league’s best receivers.
