The Baltimore Ravens have one of the best quarterbacks in the game.
That’s why they didn’t sweat when Tyler Huntley left town to join a divisional rival like the Cleveland Browns.
With that in mind, HC John Harbaugh announced that veteran journeyman Josh Johnson would be Lamar Jackson’s backup in 2024 (via Jamison Hensley).
John Harbaugh said Josh Johnson will be the backup QB to Lamar Jackson. “He can play at a really high level,” Harbaugh said. Harbaugh pointed out that Johnson and Jackson have a great relationship.

Harbaugh claimed that both players have a very good relationship.
Johnson has been in the league since 2008.
As of now, Johnson has completed 206 of 355 passing attempts (58.0%) with 13 touchdowns against 16 interceptions.
He has logged 2,280 passing yards with a passer rating of 70.6, adding 425 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Needless to say, these aren’t the most impressive numbers one could ask from a backup, but with the Ravens being tight against the salary cap, they couldn’t afford to do a lot better.
Even so, they will hope the 37-year-old veteran won’t take the field much next season.
If anything, they should only expect him to play in a blowout.
There will always be some injury concerns with Lamar Jackson, but they hope he can stay healthy and fresh now that Derrick Henry will do most of the heavy lifting on the ground.
But if that’s not the case, they might be forced to dig deep into the QB market to get another option.
