After the San Francisco 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, there’s been a lot of speculation about what the team intends to do during the NFL offseason in order to get over the hump and win another Vince Lombardi Trophy.
One player who has had an uncertain future ever since the 49ers left Las Vegas empty-handed earlier this month is wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who many believe might be sent packing this offseason in a trade.
However, that might not be the case for the wide receiver, as 49ers general manager John Lynch recently addressed the rumors surrounding Aiyuk’s future in San Francisco.
According to Lynch, the 49ers want to keep Aiyuk around for quite some time, with a contract extension seemingly on the horizon for the soon-to-be 26-year-old, via 49ers on NBCS.
“Brandon [Aiyuk] is one that we think incredibly highly of,” Lynch said. “One of my favorite guys around our building. The way he approaches the game. He’s a competitor. He’s a warrior. He plays with such a physicality, also with such a grace the way some of the positions his body can get into. And then he’s got a flair for making plays when they matter most. … Brandon’s a guy we want to keep around for a long time.”

Lynch clearly thinks quite highly of Aiyuk, and that definitely bodes well for the wide receiver to stay with the 49ers for the foreseeable future, with a contract extension potentially getting done in the offseason.
That would be a step in the right direction for the 49ers, as they’ll look to keep this talented team intact moving forward.
