Just when it seemed like Joshua Dobbs had found a home in the NFL, he was traded — again.
Dobbs had been the incumbent starter for the Arizona Cardinals, holding down the fort while Kyler Murray was able to work his way back to the field.
Then, all of a sudden, he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings to replace the injured Kirk Cousins.
Notably, even Dobbs was surprised by the move, as he recently revealed that Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon told him right to his face that he wasn’t going to be traded (via Dov Kleiman).

Following their 31-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Gannon told him he’d continue to be the starter.
Then, the next morning, Gannon backpedaled and told him that he would roll with rookie QB Clayton Tune vs. the Cleveland Browns, but still assured him that he wouldn’t trade him.
Less than 24 hours later, Dobbs got a text from his agent stating that he could be on his way to Minnesota or even back to Cleveland.
He ended up in the Twin Cities, where he was forced to take the field against the Atlanta Falcons, and even though he didn’t even know his teammates or the playbook, he wound up leading the team to an unlikely and thrilling 31-28 win.
This is one of the wildest stories in recent NFL history, and one that’s certainly fitting of Dobbs’ career thus far.
Hopefully, one day, he’ll find a place where he can settle in and spend the rest of his career, even if it’s as a backup.
