The San Francisco 49ers have continued their dominant play into the 2023 season.
There were a lot of questions surrounding this team coming into the year, which they have quelled due to their performances thus far.
Even after an offseason shoulder surgery, Brock Purdy has brought this offense to new heights.
His level of play has made him a front-runner for league MVP, seemingly neck-and-neck with Dak Prescott in the eyes of the general public.
However, not all fans and analysts share this opinion.
In a recent segment of “Speak” on FS1, Joy Taylor said that Purdy is the “fourth-best player on his side of the ball.”
“Multiple things can be true. Brock Purdy can be playing at an unbelievably high-level… and still be the 4th best player on his side of the ball.”@JoyTaylorTalks give us her top 5 most valuable 49ers pic.twitter.com/BZC7uFGGpo

While Taylor does agree that Purdy is playing well, she doesn’t necessarily believe he is worthy of the MVP award.
When putting together a list of the top five most impactful players on the 49ers, Purdy was the fourth offensive player mentioned.
Taylor had him behind Trent Williams, Deebo Samuel, and Christian McCaffrey.
All four of these players have made a substantial impact on the 49ers’ season.
Ultimately, it doesn’t matter who is the most impactful, at least in the team’s eyes.
If Purdy continues to limit mistakes, not turning the ball over when his team needs him most, that should be enough for the 49ers to stay atop the NFC.
The 49ers have already clinched a playoff spot and currently hold the best record in the conference.
They are in the driver’s seat to have a first-round bye, and as long as they win out, that will remain true heading into the playoffs.
