There’s a severe lull after the NFL Draft, free agency, and OTAs conclude in the NFL offseason and before training camp starts, as fans get bored amidst the quiet before the storm.
Luckily, we have always had Madden video games to help pass the time right before the season starts, and former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was particularly fond of one specific iteration of the iconic game.
In a recent episode of his podcast, Games With Names, Edelman said his favorite era was the from the early 2000s when he would play on Nintendo 64, while also giving a nod to one of the all-time most iconic Madden years, 2004 when Michael Vick graced the cover.

Edelman also noted he used to play a lot of NCAA Football, and he’s in luck because the game is making a huge comeback as EA Sports College Football 25 is dropping on July 19th.
Vick in Madden 04 was a cheat code much like he was in real life, as his speed made it impossible for the casual Madden player to stop him.
Even 20 years later, it’s always fun to dust off the old PlayStation 2 and juke some players with Michael Vick, and even in the two decades since then, few, if any other players have ever been as electric as he was in that game.
Madden 25 drops on August 16th and will feature San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey on the cover, and he’ll be next in line to try to fend off the dreaded Madden curse.
