Before calling it a career at 45, superstar quarterback Tom Brady was considered to be a freak of nature, as he seemed to be able to hold off Father Time while putting together one of the most remarkable NFL careers in the history of the league.
Although Brady received a lot of pushback for his methods, namely the TB12 Method with Alex Guerrero, he was extremely disciplined and made sure that he was always in the best shape he could be to help his team win, whether it be the New England Patriots or Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Former Patriots teammate Julian Edelman knows Brady as well as anyone with the amount of time the two spent together on and off the field in New England, and he knows how disciplined the future Hall of Famer had to be in order to be as successful as he was during his NFL career.
On a recent appearance of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Edelman shared a story about Brady smelling chicken wings that his offensive linemen were eating and staying as mentally strong as possible not to give in.
“Tom Brady would sit and smell the chicken wings before the game while the offensive linemen were eating them,” Edelman said. “You know he loved a chicken wing, but he had to use that mental toughness and give it a smell only. He preaches the TB12 s***, but he lives it.”

Obviously, anyone without that insane level of mental strength knows how easy it is to fold and eat some food that they know is bad for them, but the Patriots legend stuck to his principles throughout his career, and that’s why he has seven Super Bowl titles and the distinction of being the greatest player in NFL history.
